At the Institute of Sustainable Processes of the University of Valladolid (ISP-UVa), we have developed the PROPHACTION project, focused on the valorization of residual biomass from wastewater treatment plants.

The project has pursued two main objectives:

  • To recover proteins, present in the biomass.
  • To produce bioplastics with potential applications in industry.

This approach aligns with a circular economy strategy, aiming to transform waste into high-value-added compounds, while promoting sustainability and efficient resource use.

Throughout the project, key aspects have also been addressed, such as the economic feasibility of the process, the safety of the resulting products, and their environmental impact.

The PROPHACTION project (PID2020-113544RB-I00) has been funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the State Research Agency.
