Every March 22nd, World Water Day is celebrated, a date dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of freshwater and its sustainable management. This essential resource for life faces growing challenges, making its conservation more urgent than ever.
This year, the theme focuses on glacier conservation, which is vital for the balance of ecosystems and the provision of water to millions of people around the world. Aware of this reality, our researchers, Rebecca Serna and María del Rosario Rodero, held an awareness talk at the Instituto Teresianas in Valladolid, directed at 3rd-year ESO students.
During the session, they discussed the need to protect glaciers and the global responsibility to ensure equitable access to water. The activity allowed students to reflect on the impact of climate change on water resources and the importance of adopting measures for their preservation.
In a context where water is becoming an increasingly scarce resource, initiatives like this reinforce the commitment to the planet’s future and the need to act now to ensure this vital resource for future generations.
