On February 11th, in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, researchers from the Institute of Sustainable Processes (ISP) visited HORSE company facilities to give a talk on the role of women in science and the importance of equality-based education. Aimed at parents, the event raised awareness of how equitable education from an early age can inspire both girls and boys to pursue science, fostering a future with greater opportunities for all.
The activity began with an introduction by Ámbar Mora, R&D Manager at ISP, who discussed the current participation of women in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and the challenges they continue to face. Mora emphasized the importance of fostering equality from an early age, highlighting how inclusive education can encourage the scientific aspirations of both girls and boys, transforming the global scientific landscape.
Researchers Cristina González, Rebecca Serna, and Erika Oliveira then shared their professional journeys, shedding light on the role of women in science and serving as role models in the field. Through their personal stories, they provided insight into the challenges and rewards of a scientific career. Their experiences inspired the parents in attendance, encouraging them to support their children equally in pursuing their aspirations.
This event reaffirms ISP’s commitment to gender equality in science. We remain dedicated to investing in education and collaborating with initiatives that promote equal opportunities, ignite the interest of both girls and boys in science, and develop future generations of professionals in the field.
